God. He happened to drop by the recording studio.

IF God dropped by, it's only barely evident in the photo and sadly lacking on the audio tracks....

Although I remain in that small minority that likes Black Muddy River

I thought the 7th was Robert Hunter but what Purple Gel pointed out sounds really interesting. Going to have to bust out my copy now

For what it's worth, here's the way I have seen it described, don't know how accurate it is.

Turn the album upside down. First to the upper right is Bob Weir. He is looking to the left at John Barlow, Bob's lyricist. Mickey Hart is all the way to left center looking all the way to the right at Bill Kreutzman's one eye. Brent Mydland has the bright shining eyes in the center of the picture. Jerry Garcia is on the bottom left looking to Robert Hunter (Jerry's lyricist) who is looking "In The Dark".
The photograph inside shows the band "in the light" and there we see Phil Lesh standing out more than anyone, also the look Bob Weir is giving is exactly like the way John Barlow is looking on the front, totally tongue and cheek.
